Kamares ware pyxis with dolphins

In the Ancient Greek world, pyxides were clay boxes used to hold jewelry and personal effects. Most of them were conical with or without a handle at the apex. The shape and decoration of pyxides had their origins in everyday activities and nature. Dolphins were among the most beloved themes used for decoration, as they can be found on murals in Knossos and Santorini, as well as on gold jewelry and coins. This jewelry box is inspired by one of the most impressive murals with dolphins ever found in the Knossos palace. In ancient times, the dolphin symbolized the good spirit and freedom of character.
It can be used as a jewelry case or to store personal items.
It is handmade and hand-painted in Greece using traditional techniques and ecological colors.
