Tanagrea Figurine

anagra is the site in east-central Greece where the small terracotta figures, primarily dating from the 3rd century B.C., were found and named after. The main subject matter of the statuettes are well-dressed young women in various positions, usually standing. When they were discovered in the 19th century, they became extremely popular, and copies were extensively and expertly forged and even painted in a similarly intricate fashion.

This is a handmade and hand-painted museum-quality artwork replica of a Tanagra terracotta figure.
