Minoan Amphora with papyrus and lotus

Late Minoan amphora with large handles that extend beyond the rim of the ceramic. The body of the amphora is decorated with motifs of papyrus and lotus. The amphora dates back to the late Minoan period, around 1450 BC, during which Mycenaean influence became apparent. During this period, vase forms and designs took on a more Mycenaean character with a wide variety of decorations. This style, known as the “Palace Style,” incorporates elements from the past, such as leafy and geometric motifs, which are now depicted in a more abstract way.
