Cup from Mycenae

Mycenae was the center of power in the Greek Bronze Age. Mycenaean culture is the source of ancient epics and legends such as the dynasty of the Atreidae, the labours of Hercules, the Trojan War, the Thyestean Feast, and Agamemnon’s tragic life and death. This cup’s origin is probably from Minoan Crete, as the motif of spirals was very common among ceramic artworks at that time in Crete. Such items, decorated with beautiful one-colour spirals, were practical objects of everyday life. Nowadays they prove the link between the Minoan and the Mycenaean civilization.
