Ancient Greek Pyxis with a handle

An unique exhibit of the Greek Geometric Period collection is on display at the Louvre museum in Paris. In the ancient Greek world, pyxides were jewelry boxes made of clay. The shape and decoration of pyxides had their origins in everyday activities and in nature. In this replica, the perfect sphere of the belly is flanked by two handles and the surface of the vase is covered with geometric patterns (meanders, zigzags, and chevrons) arranged in zones separated by lines. The area between the handles is decorated with an interlaced meander flanked by two horses. The pyxis is handmade and painted in Greece on a pottery wheel, using the same colors as the original piece.

Every artwork is unique, so it may have slight variations during painting. LIMITED EDITION LAST PIECES
