Long pendant with sword hilt depiction

Long plaster pendant, a facsimile copy of an embossed gold foil from the hilt of a Minoan sword.

In this piece of jewelry, the image of an athlete performing an acrobatic leap while bending his body completely backwards comes alive. In some recreational events, Minoan athletes jumped and did a back flip over the blade of a sword that had been affixed vertically to the ground. The original dates back to 1800-1700 B.C, and was discovered at the Minoan palace of Malia in Crete.

Handmade and hand-painted with ecru and royal red colours. It is sent in a closed, sealed package in a velvet pouch.
